The Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior issued the following statement:
“The State Security Service was able to thwart a plan for a terrorist operation that was targeting (vital installations) in the country after extensive security monitoring and investigations, as 10 citizens of a terrorist group belonging to the banned terrorist organization Hezbollah were arrested. They had planned in advance and coordinated with external parties, and sought to communicate with them with the aim of providing them with the coordinates of the targeted locations, which constitutes a direct threat to the security of the country.
Investigations showed that the cell members received external training in camps affiliated with the terrorist Hezbollah organization, which included using weapons and dealing with drones, as part of preparing to carry out these sabotage operations aimed at undermining the sovereignty of the state, destabilizing it, and spreading fear and terror in society, and the defendants made detailed confessions about that.
We will deal with the utmost firmness with anyone proven to be involved in compromising the security of our homeland or cooperating with such terrorist groups. We will not hesitate to deliver painful strikes to any threat, and the security and sovereignty of the State of Kuwait are safeguarded. Security personnel are continuing to track down and expose everyone behind these terrorist plans, and take the maximum penalties and legal measures without leniency or exception.”
